For adults

Because Reiki can touch the mental and emotional aspects of a person, my goal is to offer a complementary help to the Reiki care itself.

My approach is based on empathic and reflective listening; in order to help the person get in touch with her emotions and needs, which really addresses what is important to her that is being repressed, ignored or denied. This approach helps to foster greater knowledge of self, empowerment, and conscious decision making.

To facilitate:

  • Stress management;
  • Knowing, understanding and appreciating yourself;
  • Reinforcing self-confidence and self-esteem;
  • Respecting, communicating, and asserting yourself;
  • Setting up healthier boundaries;
  • Support through difficult times;
  • Etc.

For children

My approach is to accompany those dealing with stress, anxiety, lack of self-esteem or confidence… and guide them towards more self-empowerment and autonomy. Parents may be present to provide them with tools as well. My help is focussed on widening their emotional and needs vocabulary, as well as providing self-management tools (breathing, meditation, grounding, etc.).

Anxiety, ADHD, and other disorders

It makes no doubt that these kind of problems are on the rise, and it is often the reason why people come to me for their children. Reiki can surely have a positif effect, but its effect can vary greatly depending on the nature of the problem. That is why I prefer to educate and provide the children with self-management tools!

Meditation, which I teach, can have a powerful impact when practiced regularly. Not only can it sooth the nervous system and positively modify hormone levels in the body and brain, but it can also help the children to better self-regulate emotionally.

Furthermore, because anxiety on a frequent basis alters the brain’s chemistry greatly, many educators and child psychologists are starting to see a correlation between anxiety disorders and a wider range of problems like aggressivity, opposition, loss of appetite, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), cognitive impairments, etc… And for a wider array of causes; hyper sensitivity (physical or emotional), chemical imbalance, food intolerances, the nature or the quality of the bond between the child with either one or both of the parents, etc. That is why working with the parents is also important if significant change is to be facilitated.

Keep in mind that even though Reiki and meditation can be great allies, it may be wise to seek a clear diagnosis from a healthcare professional when the children’s quality of life is greatly impaired, as this will facilitate better adapted interventions.
