Learning Reiki as been one my best life decisions ever!
Choosing your Reiki Master
Reiki is an inner calling, and I would say the same is true for choosing your teacher. Take the time to feel into who resonates with you. Every Master has his/her own personality, core beliefs and vibration!
That is especially true if you are also seeking a mentor to guide you on your journey… Which might require a larger set of attributes than simply attuning you. A good master will seek to bring out the best of in you and respect your pace of growth. Choose with consideration!
Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki
Before being a holistic health approach, Reiki is an energy of harmonization and reconnection! The harmonizing effect of Reiki on our being as a whole contributes to gradually reconnect us with our soul. This reconnection leads us to ever greater mental, emotional and physical balance and well-being.
By being attuned to Reiki; you become energetically accompanied on your soul’s journey to deeper well-being, connection and embodiment!
Available Modalities

Learning Reiki I: Taking Care of Yourself
When you become attuned to Reiki, you are forever connected to an energy that will facilitate self-care, self-love, well-being and soul connection. You also become able to give Reiki cares to others.
Content: Reiki history, the 5 Reiki precepts, 4 attunements/meditations, reiki care on self and others, energy protections, a quick look at the chakra system.
Tandem training:
Given on weekdays (segmented in 2 blocks of 4 hours in 2 consecutive days).Fee: 240$ CAN (taxes included)
Remote training
Reiki training is usually done in person, but I may do it remotely on certain occasions. Same content, same hours, same energy! However, it requires for the two students to be in presence of each other to facilitate the segments that involve hands-on practice… Honing our senses is an essential part of the training.
Learning Reiki II: Helping Others
As you develop your connection to Reiki, you may eventually feel a longing for more. Doing this level expands that connection further and allows a greater awareness of the impact that Reiki can have. Thus, in this level, you learn to give Reiki remotely: on all living beings, events, the planet, etc.
Content: Learning 3 sacred symbols/mantras, 2 attunements/meditations, practice of hands-on and remote Reiki cares.
Tandem training:
Given on weekdays (segmented in 2 blocks of 8 hours in 2 consecutive days).Fee: 550$ CAN (taxes included)
Doing Reiki levels, a Matter of Inner Callings!
The Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki holds three levels. Still, doing all three IS NOT a requirement. Above all, what matters is the constancy with which you integrate this practice in your life. The more you will use it; the more its benefits will be incremental!
Each step requires a deeper personal commitment; motivated by a greater desire for soul growth and connection. The depth and pace of that reconnection is an individual process that evolves gradually and naturally.
Reiki III: Preserving Sacredness
This process involves a greater level of mutual appreciation and respect between the master and the student. It also requires a greater level of commitment; from 5 to 7 years, and sometimes more. For the student, those years are essential in deepening his connection to Reiki. This also helps to refine the qualities expected in a Reiki Master; humility, compassion, empathy, authenticity, integrity, respect, discernment, personal boundaries, communication, etc.

(From the spiritual lineage of Usui, Hayashi, Takata, Furumoto, Reindl.)
Firstly, Reiki is an energy of reconnection and harmonization; facilitating well-being, balance and awareness. By imposition of the practitioner’s hands; a Reiki care therefore aims to harmonize the 3 dimensions of your being; the body, the mind, and the soul (emotional). In addition, it can nurture your body’s self-healing capabilities, and increase your level of consciousness.
Reiki can calm your mind, soothe your nervous system, and relieve pain. It can also harmonize you globally and facilitate your awareness and personal growth. This body-mind-soul interaction is possible through your chakras system; the « energy » organs of the human body.
Reiki energy “knows” the person’s needs and will work accordingly. It is pure “unconditional” love! Therefore, it does not need to be forced to meet certain expectations. The only intention practitioners should have is to channel it and allow to be guided by it. The most impactful experiences happen when we allow the process to flow!
History of the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki
It was in Japan, around 1890, that Reiki was rediscovered by Mikao Usui in old Buddhist scrolls; after several years of research. That gave him the knowledge, but not the power to heal. Looking for answers; he went for a 21-days meditation on Mount Kurama. At the very last day; he had a transcending experience where he felt connected to that sacred energy.
Running down the mountain with enthusiasm; he scraped his toe and started bleeding. He proceeded to wrap his toe with his hands. After a few minutes, the pain was gone and the bleeding had stopped. Now having the capacity to heal and soothe with his hands; he went on to test it on other people. After that, he started treating people in a homeless camp.
Then, after a few years; he realized that treating the mind was as important as treating the body. He then decided to go and share his reiki healingmethod and teachings from village to village. This brought him followers which he later trained.
Master Hayashi
Among those followers was Chujiro Hayashi; a former medical officer in the Japanese Navy. Before Usui’s passing, he chose Hayashi to become the next Grand Master of the lineage. Hayashi had set up a school clinic in Kyoto. Over time, he observed varying intentions and levels of devotion amongst students. That brought him to split Reiki into 3 levels of learning reiki.
Master Takata learning reiki
One day, a woman named Hawayo Takata came to Japan from Hawaii to undergo surgery for a gallbladder tumor. However, an insisting inner voice kept telling her there was another alternative possible. She was guided towards Hayashi’s clinic. After several treatments, Ms. Takata was completely healed and became, with a little insistence and perseverance, the first woman to be learn Reiki. Over time, Hayashi could only recognize her devotion, and accepted to train her.
After a year of training, Takata went back to her home in Kauai (Hawaii) to set up her clinic and training center. This is when Reiki started to get international attention. In 1940, as rumors of war were spreading, Hayashi wanted no part in it. He felt it was time to pass the torch. He gathered his masters an asked Takata to become the next Grand Master.
Master Furomoto learning reiki
Master Takata devoted herself to Reiki until her death in 1980; not without having passed the torch to her granddaughter Phyllis Lei Furomoto. However, feeling too overwhelmed by the task at hand and the number of people to oversee; she chose her colleague Paul Mitchell as head of discipline.
Master Furomoto was the instigator of the Reiki Alliance (which I am a member of); an international community bringing together Reiki teachers around the world. The goal was to preserve the foundations and supervise the practice and teachings of Reiki. She died in 2019.
Master Reindl learning reiki
The current Grand Master and bearer of the lineage since 2021 is Johannes Reindl, with Paul Mitchell still acting as head of discipline.
